iPad - What's the Big Deal?

The iPad has appeared on the main stage throughout the modern world. Many nay-sayers claim it is nothing but a super sized iPhone, but there are quite a few people around who claim differently.

Very simply put, the iPad is indeed just a larger form of the iPhone, but this big size comes with a good bit of new functionality. Several people do not have an iPhone due to the fact it is insanely hard to type on. But with the iPad's just about full sized touch screen keyboard, this is no longer an issue.

One unfortunate feature of the iPad is that it is not able to be used as a phone. Even though Verizon supports the iPad and sells them with internet plans, calls are not able to be made or received with them. It would be very strange to hold an iPad up to your ear, but a speaker phone or even a video conference mode would be awesome.

One of the best features, it seems, is the incredible improvement of battery life over the iPhone or iPod Touch. Reports show that the iPad's battery can last up to 12 hours of continuous use, which is amazing for the size of the display.

While not being pocket sized, the iPad can be carried in a case similar to a computer. It can be used while you walk, or pretty much anywhere else one could use a phone. It's not nearly as useful as a laptop, but according to Apple, it will be there very soon.

Even though the iPad started rough, and several people blew it off as a oversized iPhone, the trademark is still going well. The release date of the iPad 2 will be unveiled very soon, and a lot of people have incredibly high hopes for the second generation of this device.
